CLUB HISTORY
Moulton Magpies History (11/05/08)

Moulton Magpies is the youth section of Moulton Football Club which was originally formed within Moulton village in 1896. Youth football is known to have been played at Moulton dating back as far as the 1940’s.

The current youth section started in 1994 with the formation of an U11’s boy’s team. The number of teams has grown to a point where there are now 14 teams with over 200 players from in and around Moulton village.

Within the youth section there are both boys & girls teams playing mini soccer and youth 11 a side football. The Magpies boys’ teams play in the Northampton & District Youth Alliance League while the Girls teams play in the newly formed Weetabix/Midshires Football League.

For the first time in 2008, the U18’s team will compete in the Northamptonshire Countywide Under 18 Football League.

The football ground is located near to the centre of Moulton. There are mini soccer, youth and adult pitches and a clubhouse/changing facilities that were built with lottery funding in 1996. Winter training takes place from October to March at Moulton Leisure Centre using the Astroturf facilities.

Each year in July the Magpies host one of the most established summer tournaments within the county with over 100 teams taking part. 2008 saw the introduction of a girl’s only day on the final day of the tournament.

In 2006 Moulton Magpies were awarded FA Charter Standard Community Club status, the seventh club within the county to achieve community status. The award is recognition by the FA that the club has met Community Club standard.

Moulton Magpies is a true community club whose aim is to provide a safe environment for Mini & Youth Soccer, to boys and girls aged from 6 to 18. All of our coaches are a minimum of FA level 1 trained and are CRB checked through the Football Association.
